Critic Consensus: Like a TARDIS dropping down in a burst of excitement, Peter Capaldi adds a revitalizing blast of boldness and humor to Doctor Who's time-tested formula.

News & Interviews for Doctor Who: Season 8
Here we go again. The Doctor has regenerated and, in his Twelfth's iteration, he's older, funnier and even more eccentric than before.
While I love what Capaldi has done with the Doctor, I'm much less thrilled about the stories he's been featured in.
Season eight is not without its wobbles, but as an attempt to inject surprise and danger into this show again, it's a huge success.
It was possibly the strongest, clearest mission statement any Doctor ever got to make upon donning his new togs.
There are more than enough fun moments to at least keep fans interested enough to tune in to next week's episode with the Daleks. With a new Doctor, we'd say that's a win.
Audience Reviews for Doctor Who: Season 8
The introduction of Peter Capaldi's doctor finds the writing back on par with a few notable exceptions (cough, cough, "Robot of Sherwood"), but Capaldi makes even the dips in writing fun and Clara finally comes into her own.
Still doesn't bear the magic of earlier Doctor Who, but a stark and sudden improvement of the most recent seasons.
