Tv Season Info

The 10th Doctor (David Tennent) returns in this third series of the BBC's thoroughly modern updating of the seminal sci-fi series "Doctor Who". This time, the Doctor is joined by a new companion, Martha (Freema Agyeman), a medical school student who encounters the time lord during an incident at a London hospital. Among the highlights of the third series are the return of the Doctor's arch nemesis, the Daleks; a trip to the moon; a journey aboard a space craft heading towards the sun; and a jaunt back to Elizabethan London. Later, another formidable foe from the Doctor's past, the Master, makes a return appearance.

Critic Reviews for Doctor Who: Season 3

All Critics (6) | Top Critics (1)

This episode, the concluding story in a Manhattan adventure, features the most spectacular Dalek action in Doctor Who's history.

February 27, 2018 | Full Review…

Simm's portrayal of the Master as a dark reflection of Tennant's manic Doctor was, if you'll forgive the obvious pun, a master stroke.

The supporting cast does its usual excellent job in the third series.

Series three's final treat is that the Master is back, played this time not by the great Roger Delgado (obviously), but first by Derek Jacobi and then by John Simm.

One of the triumphs here is that the narrative finally makes some dramatic sense of Martha and where her place is in the series.

That's the simultaneous thrill and frustration of watching Doctor Who: You really never, ever know where this show is going to go next.

A necessary next step for Doctor Who that is still thoroughly enjoyable.
